These terms govern your use of NeedTally (needtally.com, the calculators, copy, and related pages). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
Planning estimate only — not insurance, legal, tax, or investment advice, and not a recommendation to buy, keep, or cancel a policy. Confirm face amounts, beneficiaries, and policy terms with a licensed professional or your insurer.
What this site is
NeedTally provides free browser calculators that estimate life insurance coverage needs for planning conversations. Outputs are general information only. They are not insurance advice, legal advice, tax advice, investment advice, or a recommendation to buy, keep, change, or cancel any policy.
Using this site does not create an agent–client, broker–client, fiduciary, or advisory relationship between you and NeedTally or its operators.
What we are not
NeedTally is not an insurance carrier, agency, or broker. We do not underwrite policies, bind coverage, or negotiate on your behalf with insurers. We do not guarantee that any insurer will offer a given face amount, premium, or rate class.
You are responsible for verifying policy terms, beneficiaries, exclusions, loans, riders, and in-force amounts with the relevant insurer or a licensed professional before you rely on any number from this site.
Estimates can be wrong
Defaults are dated planning starting points (see methodology). Real households differ because of savings, survivor income, employer benefits, inflation, estate goals, business ownership, health, and state law. A written plan from a qualified advisor can disagree with this site — in that case, trust the professional review.
Your decisions are yours
Any purchase, cancellation, beneficiary change, or coverage amount you choose after using NeedTally is your decision alone. We do not recommend specific carriers, products, or face amounts. We do not promise that a policy will be affordable, issued, or suitable for your situation.
No warranties
The site is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, NeedTally and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or reliance on its estimates. Our total liability for any claim related to the site will not exceed the amount you paid us to use it (which is zero for the free calculators).
Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to disrupt, scrape, or reverse-engineer the site in ways that harm others
- Do not misrepresent NeedTally outputs as official insurer quotes or binding advice
- Do not use the site to harvest personal data from other users (there are no accounts today)
Intellectual property
NeedTally's design, copy, and code are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may use the calculators for personal planning. Do not republish substantial portions of the site as your own product without permission.
Changes
We may update these terms or the calculators. Continued use after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date.
